Celtic have signed forward, Adam Idah on loan from Norwich City until end of 2023-24 season.

Idah has scored seven goals in 34 appearances for Norwich in all competitions as the Canaries sit 10th in the Championship, albeit only four points outside of the play-off spots.

Speaking to Celtic TV about his surprise move to Celtic Park, Idah commented: “It’s such a huge club with such a big history behind it and I can’t even put into words what it’s like to be at Celtic.

“My family and my friends are all delighted that I’m here and I just can’t wait to get started. All of us back home support Celtic so it’s huge for me and I’m so excited to be here.

“I want to play games, I want to help this team and the aim for me is to win those two trophies and I want to score a lot of goals for this club.”

On what fans can expect from him, Idah explained: “I’m quite quick and strong, and I think that’s the strengths to my game, getting in behind and trying to hold the ball up and link up the play.

“I’m anxious to get out there and play. I want to score goals for this club and I want to get playing as soon as possible.”

Norwich released the following statement on Idah’s loan departure: “All at Norwich City wish Adam the best with his loan move.”

Idah has scored 17 goals in 115 appearancs for the Canaries and been capped on 22 occasions for Republic of Ireland, in which he has scored three international goals.

The 22 year-old forward could make his debut for Celtic away at Aberdeen on Saturday 3 February in a 12:30pm GMT kick-off, whilst his first home game for the Hoops comes against Kilmarnock on 17 February at 3pm.

Van Hooijdonk Joins Norwich on Loan

Idah’s loan departure paved the way for 23 year-old Dutch forward, Sydney van Hooijdonk to join Norwich on loan from Italy’s Bologna, where he has scored one goal in 11 appearances this season.

Speaking to Canaries.co.uk about his loan move, van Hooijdonk said: “The last few days have been hectic. Flying in yesterday and doing all the medicals. But finally, everything is done. I’m really happy.

“The training ground is amazing, and the facilities are great. I think there’s everything to perform and work hard.

“I’ve met almost all the lads, and they’re all really nice. It’s been a warm welcome.”

Van Hooijdonk also spent time at the Netherlands’ Heerenveen on loan following his move to Bologna in July 2021 from NAC Breda, during which he scored 26 goals in 54 appearances for Heerenveen.

The 23 year-old will wear the number 14 shirt and can make his debut in their huge Championship clash at home to Coventry on Saturday 3 February at Carrow Road, in a 3pm kick-off.
