2023-24 Premier League: Week 21b – Brighton vs Wolves

Brighton & Hove Albion entertain Wolves at the AMEX Stadium in a mid-table Premier League encounter.

Victory would see Brighton climb to seventh in the table, whilst Wolves can move up to tenth with a win.

Igor is a doubt for Brighton as he nears a return from a knock but faces a late fitness test.

Tariq Lamptey, Ansu Fati (both muscle), Simon Adingra (hamstring), Kaoru Mitoma (ankle), Joel Veltman, Solly March and Julio Enciso (all knee) remain absent.

Wolves have no fresh injury concerns to report after their FA Cup Third Round replay win over Brentford in midweek.

Jonny (personal), Joao Gomes (suspension), Hwang Hee-chan, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Boubacar Traore (international duty) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Brighton host Wolves at the AMEX Stadium in a 7:45pm GMT kick-off on Monday 22 January, live on TNT Sport 1 in the UK.

Prediction

Despite understandably not hitting the heights of last season, Brighton  haven’t done too badly with an unbeaten festive fortnight but they did ride their luck in their last outing at Stoke a fortnight ago in the FA Cup amidst leaky defending yet their attacking edge saved them.

Wolves were also unbeaten over the festive period but they did struggle defensively against Brentford in the FA Cup, yet showd excellent spirit to come from behind twice in their replay to eventually win in extra-time so a six-day gap should of helped them recover thoroughly.

Now if both teams can sort out their defensive sloppiness then I can see a tough battle but Brighton have happy memories from their mauling of Wolves here in April 2023, which will motivate them but this time I can see a draw if both teams cut out their defensive mistakes.

Prediction: Brighton 1-1 Wolves

Result: Brighton 0-0 Wolves
