Sebastian Montoya has completed Campos’ driver line-up for the 2024 F3 season.
Montoya previously drove for Campos in the penultimate round of the 2022 season at Zandvoort, which saw him qualify seventh on debut then finished eighth in both races in a strong debut round in F3.
This season though saw him move to Hitech GP where he finished 16th in the driver standings with 37 points, having claimed nine top-ten finishes including a second-placed podium finish in the Australian Sprint.
The 18 year-old US-born Colombian driver will now return to Campos for his second full season in the category, which has “delighted” the youngster who drove for Campos in the Macau GP where he struggled for pace around the extremely difficult circuit.
Montoya though believes that he can use that weekend as a launchpad for next season as he explained: “To be honest, since my return to the team we have had a big learning curve during the collective tests.
“Even though Macau didn’t give us the results we wanted, the potential is there and the important thing is to be able to maximize our chances. We know that we have a competitive car, enough to be in the points regularly and hopefully with it we can also fight for podiums and wins.”
Campos Team Principal, Adrian Campos added: “It’s fantastic to be able to welcome Sebas to Campos Racing for next year.
He’s a hugely talented driver, as he showed when he made his debut for us in FIA Formula 3 finishing in the points twice, and we’re going to work hard to help him show his true potential.
“Sebas already made a big impression on us in the post-season tests and the best of his sporting career is yet to come.”
Montoya will partner Oliver Goethe and Mari Boya in an experienced F3 line-up at Campos.
