Aberdeen conclude their Group G campaign against Eintracht Frankfurt at Pittodrie in 2023-24 UEFA Europa Conference League.
Victory or a draw if Helsinki lose elsewhere would see Aberdeen finish third in the group, whilst Eintracht Frankfurt will finish second regardless of the result.
Team News
Aberdeen have no fresh injury concerns to report coming into this match after their Scottish Premiership win over Hearts but manager, Barry Robson could rest some players with one eye on the Scottish League Cup Final against Rangers on Sunday.
Eintracht Frankfurt will be without Kristijan Jakic after he was sent off in their defeat to PAOK, although he is also ruled out with a calf injury.
Ellyes Skhiri (thigh), Timothy Chandler, Sebastian Rode (both calf) and Mehdi Loune (ACL) are sidelind.
When is Kick-Off?
Aberdeen host Eintracht Frankfurt at Pittodrie in a 5:45pm GMT kick-off on Thursday 14 December, live on TNT Sports 3 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Aberdeen have failed to win any of their last three meetings against Eintracht Frankfurt in all UEFA competitions (D1, L2).
- Eintracht Frankfurt drew 1-1 in their only previous competitive visit to Aberdeen in First Round of 1979-80 UEFA Cup in September 1979.
- Both teams have scored in two of their three previous meetings in all UEFA competitions.
- Bojan Miovski has scored in each of Aberdeen’s two group matches at home in this competition this season (D1, L1).
- Omar Marmoush has scored four goals in seven Europa Conference League appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt this season, with all four goals scored in the Group Stage.
Prediction
With one eye on their Scottish League Cup Final against Rangers on Sunday, I do expect Robson to bench some key players but given their goalscoring antics amidst defensive vulnerability, the Dons certainly won’t roll over because they will surely be as brave as they’ve been in this competition.
Frankfurt meanwhile come here off the back of a surprise home demolition of Bayern so confidence will be high amongst their players, but there will surely be rotation with nothing really at stake here from the visitors’ perspective.
Either way this game will be a dull affair or a cracker with the pressure off both teams but Frankfurt will realistically have the edge, particularly given that Aberdeen’s focus is surely on that winnable final at the weekend.
Prediction: Aberdeen 1-2 Eintracht Frankfurt
Result: Aberdeen 2-0 Eintracht Frankfurt
