- Eintracht Frankfurt are unbeaten in two previous meetings against Aberdeen (W1, D1), which came in a First Round tie in 1979-80 UEFA Cup.
- Aberdeen lost 1-0 in their only previous visit to Eintracht Frankfurt in October 1979 in their First Round tie of that season’s UEFA Cup.
- Frankfurt are unbeaten in three of their last five home matches in all UEFA competitions (W2, D1, L2).
- Borjan Miovski has scored in each of Aberdeen’s two European matches this season (D1, L1), with both goals coming after half-time in their Europa League Play-Off loss to BK Hacken.
Prediction
Given their European pedigree in recent seasons, Frankfurt will be red hot favourites to top this group but after a winning start to the season domestically, they’ve stuttered with four 1-1 draws in their last five games which is a slight concern but they hopefully will be back on their best form here.
Aberdeen meanwhile need to calm down and work out how to extract the best performance because they’ve often played frantic attacking football this season, which has often left them exposed defensively which must tighten up whilst their attack need to be more controlled and patient.
Should Aberdeen indeed knuckle down with a more solid performance and can frustrate Frankfurt, I fancy them to get something otherwise Frankfurt might just pick up a fourth win of the season.
