Roundup of the latest Championship action as the promotion race threw up more drama.

Sam Greenwood’s 83rd minute strike saw Middlesbrough snatch a narrow 1-0 home win over league leaders, Leicester who suffered consecutive league defeats for the first time this season.

Second-placed Ipswich moved level on points with Leicester after they came from behind to beat Swansea 3-2 at Portman Road, in which Conor Chaplin and George Hirst produced goals and assists apiece for the Tractor Boys whilst the Swans’ Liam Cullen was sent off in the 69th minute.

Dan James and Joel Piroe netted first half goals as third-placed Leeds defeated Plymouth 2-1 at Elland Road, despite Ben Waine’s 84th minute effort denying the Whites a clean sheet at home.

Southampton again sat fourth after Adam Armstrong struck a 79th minute winner for the Saints in a 2-1 home win over West Brom, having seen Will Smallbone’s fifth minute opening goal cancelled out by Kyle Bartley’s equalising goal.

Liam Lindsay struck a 90th minute winner as fifth-placed Preston stunned Blackburn at Ewood Park in a thrilling Lancashire derby, which saw Alan Browne’s opening goal for the Lilywhites cancelled out by Sammie Szmodics in a scrappy contest.

Dion Sanderson’s 57th minute own-goal and Adil Aouchiche’s 72nd minute strike saw Sunderland round out the top six with a 3-1 home triumph over Birmingham City, as Jobe Bellingham scored for the Black Cats against his ex team prior to Koji Miyoshi’s equaliser.

Down in the relegation zone, Sheffield Wednesday remain rock-bottom as Millwall claimed a 4-0 win away at Hillsborough under new manager –  Joe Edwards, with Murray Wallace, George Saville, Wes Harding and Brooke Norton-Cuffy on the scoresheet.

QPR remain second bottom after the Hoops played out a goalless draw at home to Bristol City.

Rotherham remain third bottom after they suffered a 5-0 defeat at Watford in which Mileta Rajovic scored twice in the first half, before Edo Kayembe, Tom Ince and Matheus Martin netted in the second half.

Elsewhere, Adam Idah struck a 84th minute winner as Norwich won 3-2 away at Cardiff in a competitive clash, as Christian Fassnacht initially put the Canaries ahead before Josh Bowler and Callum Robinson put the Bluebirds ahead until Ryan Wintle scored a 82nd minute own-goal.

Liam Delap struck a 92nd minute winner for Hull in a dominant display at home to Huddersfield.

Finally, Coventry held Stoke to a goalless draw in a drab contest between the two Midlands teams.
