2023-24 Sky Bet Championship: Week 14 – Monday

Coventry City meet West Bromwich Albion at CBS Arena in a Championship clash.

Victory can lift Coventry up to 13th in the table, whilst West Brom can go fifth and into the play-off spots with a win.

Callum O’Hare is a doubt for Coventry as he continues to build up his match fitness following his return from an ACL injury during the Sky Blues’ defeat at Rotherham.

Kasey Palmer  (adductor), Liam Kelly (hamstring), Fabio Tavares (Achilles) remains absent.

West Brom will welcome Conor Townsend back into contention after he missed their win over QPR due to illness.

Cedric Kipre (knee) is a doubt and faces a late fitness test but Semi Ajayi (ankle) is uunlikely to even be risked.

Josh Maja (ankle), Martin Kelly (knee), John Swift (calf), Adam Reach, Jeremy Sarimento (both muscle) and Daryl Dike (Achilles) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Prediction

Having struggled to match the dizzy heights of last season’s run to the Play-Off Final, Coventry need to put their inconsistency behind them and start to find their groove if want to mount another play-off push after poor end product proved the difference in their defeat at Rotherham.

That result howver does have a lot of positives because Coventry did play brilliant attacking football but lacked the finishing, whilst their defence just made too many mistakes in a fierce attack-minded contest between both teams.

West Brom meanwhile clinically beat QPR but have their own injury issues and if Kipre nor Ajayi are fit, they might just find themselves in trouble, having stuttered to a scrappy win over the Hoops because Coventry are a much stronger team who can punish any sloppy play here.

Either way, this match should be close but I am going for the hosts to edge this if they can turn on their goalscoring boots, whilst taking advantage of West Brom’s poor away form.

Prediction: Coventry 1-0 WBA

Result: Coventry 0-2 WBA
