Olympicaos host West Ham at Karaiskakis Stadium in Group A of 2023-24 UEFA Europa League.
Victory could see Olympiacos move up to second if SC Freiburg lose to TSC, whilst West Ham will stay top with a win.
Andreas Richardos Ntoi is set to be Olympiacos’ sole absentee after he was red carded in their 2-2 draw at TSC in their last group match.
West Ham have no fresh injury concerns to report after their Premier League loss at Aston Villa, but Ben Johnson (groin) and Aaron Cresswell (hamstring) are set to face late fitness tests.
When is Kick-Off?
Olympiacos face West Ham at Karaiskakis Stadium in a 7:45 EEST (5:45pm UK Time) kick-off on Thursday 26 October, live on TNT Sport 1 in the UK.
- Olympiacos are yet to beat West Ham in all UEFA competitions (D1, L1).
- West Ham drew 2-2 in their only previous away match against Olympiacos in November 1965 in that season’s Cup Winners’ Cup, as the Hammers won 6-2 on aggregate in Second Round.
- West Ham have had one player score twice in each of their two previous meetings against Olympiacos – Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters.
- Olympiacos are winless in their last five home matches against English opposition in all UEFA competitions (D2, L3).
Despite dominating their domestic league, Olympiacos haven’t enjoyed the same luck so far in this group with their defence having been sloppy in spite of their ability to score twice in both matches, so I do expect them to put in a more solid defensive effort here.
West Ham meanwhile will be disappointed with their defeat at Villa because they played well overall, but were undone by a mixture of bad luck in their end product and defensive errors when high up the pitch, yet I do expect them to put the latter right at least here.
Both teams though can produce the goals when needed but I do think that this will be close and a draw might well be the fairest outcome.
Prediction: Olympaicos 1-1 West Ham
Result: Olympiacos 2-1 West Ham
