Preston North End moved top of the Sky Bet Championship heading into the first international break of 2023-24 season.

Will Keane’s early second-half brace – including one goal from the penalty spot – saw the Lilywhites win 2-0 away at Stoke to go top.

Nathan Broadhead’s strike and Freddie Ladapo’s brace saw Ipswich fight back from 2-0 down to snatch a 3-2 win over Cardiff at Portman Road, which put the Tractor Boys up to second place.

Leicester consequently slipped to third after Liam Delap’s 15th minute low strike proved enough to hand Hull victory at the King Power Stadium, which in-turn lifted the Tigers up to sixth in the table.

Jay Stansfield cancelled out Kevin Nisbet’s eighth minute opening goal as fourth-placed Birmingham City fought back to draw 1-1 at home to Millwall.

Norwich fell to fifth after first-half goals from Dexter Lembikisa and Jordan Hugill saw Rotherham clinch a surprise 2-1 home win over the Canaries, despite Christian Fassnacht having netted a 50th minute consolatory goal for the visitors.

Southampton round out the top seven after they suffered a shock 5-0 loss at Sunderland, in which Pierre Ekwah struck twice for the Black Cats with Jack Clarke, Bradley Dack and Chris Rigg also having found the net.

Sheffield Wednesday moved off the foot of the table into 23rd position after they held Leeds to a goalless draw at Elland Road.

Swansea fell into the bottom three for the first time since September 2022 with a 2-1 defeat at home to Bristol City, after Mark Sykes cancelled out Liam Cullen’s early opening goal before he created Sam Bell’s winner for the Robins.
