Campos have announced that Josh Dufek will replace Hugh Barter at the final round of 2023 F3 season at Monza, Italy.
Barter withdrew from the final round for unexplained reasons and Campos have opted to replace him with Dufek, who currently sits ninth in FRECA with six top-eight finishes and one pole position
Speaking about his unexpected call-up, Dufek commented: “I’m extremely thrilled and thankful to both Campos Racing and PPM to have been given this opportunity and can’t wait to work closely with the new team to learn as much as I can.”
Dufek also spoke about the challenge of stepping up to F3 for the final round of this season, as he added: “As I’ve only competed in FRECA up until now, it’ll be a bit of a jump into cold water but after a long summer break, I really couldn’t be more excited to hit the track and it’ll be nice to experience some more speed and power from the F3 machine.”
Team Principal, Adrian Campos extended his “warmly welcome” to Dufek, having closely monitored his race career, which included racing in ADAC F4 in 2021 where he took five podium finishes.
Campos also addressed Barter’s absence as he explained: “This said, it is such a shame that Hugh wasn’t able to complete the full-season because he was making very remarkable progress. We would like to wish him the very best for the future in motorsports.”
Looking ahead to the weekend and Dufek’s F3 debut, Campos vowed that the team will support Dufek, as he concluded: “We will support Josh with all our strength and our goal will be to give him a competitive car to make a successful debut in the ultra-competitive FIA F3 championship.”
The final round of 2023 F3 season takes place at Monza, Italy from 1-3 September.
