Manchester United look to extend their unbeaten home run as they take on Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.
Both teams enter this match locked on three points apiece from their opening two matches and a win could take either team as high as third depending upon results elsewhere.
Team News
Mason Mount is ruled out for Man Utd after he suffered a thigh injury during their defeat at Tottenham last weekend.
Luke Shaw will also miss the game after he suffered a muscle injury which is set to sideline him for several weeks.
Harry Maguire (knock) is a doubt but Tom Heaton (calf), Kobble Mainoo (ankle), Rasmus Højlund (back), Tyrell Malacia and Amad Diallo (both knee) remain sidelined.
Forest could be without Ola Aina after he missed their win over Sheffield United with a groin injury.
New signing, Gonzalo Montiel could be in line for his debut following the Argentinean’s move from Sevilla in midweek, whilst loan signing, Andrey Santos could start from the bench after only joining on Friday afternoon.
Wayne Hennessey and Felipe (both knee) remain ruled out.
When is Kick-Off?
Man Utd welcome Forest to Old Trafford in a 3pm BST kick-off on Saturday 26 August, untelevised in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Man Utd have lost just one of 12 previous Premier League meetings against Forest (W9, D2, L1).
- Forest have won just one of their six previous Premier League visits to Man Utd (W1, L5).
- Utd’s Marcus Rashford scored in two of his three appearances against Forest in all competitions last season.
- Man Utd are unbeaten in their last 19 league matches at home (W16, D3).
- Two of Forest’s three league goals this season have been scored by Taiwo Awoniyi.
Prediction
After a disappointing trip to Tottenham where they simply lacked end product to their creative attacking play, Man Utd will need to raise their game because they have been largely flat in their opening two games but their home form however is very strong which is a positive.
Forest meanwhile know that their away form is awful but as underdogs, they can come here relishing an upset if they can sort out their open-play end product aside from crosses – which proved the difference against Sheffield Utd in a strong all-round performance.
Old Trafford however isn’t a strong hunting ground for Forest but with Utd looking in shaky form performance wise, this is their best chance at getting any result which I can see them taking if can play well again but find more end product.
Prediction: Manchester United 1-1 Nottingham Forest
Result: Manchester United 3-2 Nottingham Forest
