Burnley have signed midfielder, Sander Berge from Sheffield United for £15m.

Berge has spent the last three-and-a-half years at Sheffield United where he scored 15 goals in 109 appearances and was part of their promotion-winning squad last season, which also reached the FA Cup semi-finals where they lost to Manchester City.

Burley though have swooped for the influential Norwegian international midfielder, with Utd having accepted a £15m fee for Berge who has signed a four-year contract at Turf Moor until June 2027.

Speaking about his decision to switch to the Blades’ fellow promoted rivals, Berge explained: “I have heard a lot of good things about the Club and seeing the success from outside last season, there’s a great project building here.

“It’s a great environment full of young talented players from all around the world, so I just think it’s the perfect fit for me.

“The club has high ambitions, making several signings and it all just fits into what I’m looking for.”

Berge began his career with Norway’s Asker where he made nine appearances before he joined Valerenga for two seasons, prior to a move to Genk where he netted six goals in 113 appearances and helped the Belgian club win 2018-19 Belgian First Division A title plus 2019 Belgian Super Cup.

The 25 year-old represents Norway in international football during which he has scored one goal in 36 senior appearances.

Berge could make his debut for Burnley at home against Man City in the opening match of the 2023-24 Premier League season on Friday 11 August, live on Sky Sports in a 8pm BST kick-off.
