Forward, Kai Havertz has completed a move from Chelsea to Arsenal for an undisclosed fee.
Havertz’s move to Arsenal comes just three years after he moved from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea in September 2020, with the Germany international having since scored 32 goals and created 13 assists in 139 appearances for the Blues.
The 24 year-old has signed a five-year deal with Arsenal until June 2028, and will meet up with his new teammates in early July for pre-season, which starts with a friendly against Germany’s FC Nurnberg on 13 July followed by four further pre-season fixtures across America and London, UK.
Speaking about his move across London to the Gunners, Havertz commented: “It’s super exciting for me to be joining this amazing club and to be part of the Arsenal family. This club has such a big history, and I hope we can achieve lots of things.
“The mentality in the Arsenal squad is very high and you can feel that. That was one of the reasons why it has been so hard to play against Arsenal recently.
“The aim is to win trophies and I’m going to give everything to do that for the supporters and everyone at the club. I’m now looking forward to meeting all the players and the staff when we come back for pre-season.”
Manager, Mikel Arteta added: “Kai is a player of top quality. He has great versatility and is an intelligent player. He will bring a huge amount of extra strength to our midfield and variety to our play.”
Chelsea issued a brief statement in which they said: “The German now moves on but leaves with his name etched into Chelsea folklore. We are grateful to Kai for his efforts throughout his time at Stamford Bridge and wish him well.”
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Havertz helped the Blues win three honours compromising of; UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, with the German scoring the winning goals in the finals of Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup respectively.
Havertz could make his first competitive appearance for Arsenal on Saturday 12 August 2023, as Mikel Arteta’s Gunners host Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium, London, in a 12:30pm BST kick-off on live on TNT Sports.
