Burnley have signed goalkeeper, Lawrence Vigouroux from Leyton Orient on a free transfer.

Vigouroux leaves Orient three-and-a-half years after he joined on a free transfer from Chile’s Everton de Vina Del Mar, having made 152 appearances for Orient – of which 150 appearances came in consecutive matches across all competitions.

Vigouroux also made 24 appearances last season in Orient’s successful League Two campaign, which saw the club promoted to League One as champions.

The London-born goalkeeper has signed a three-year contract at Turf Moor until June 2026 and is expected to battle Denis Franchi for the no.2 goalkeeper role, with Bailey Peacock-Farrell expected to be sold during this summer’s transfer window.

Speaking to BurnleyFC.com about his move to Turf Moor, Vigouroux said: “It’s amazing to be here! An unbelievable training ground to be a part of and I’m really happy!

“You only have to look around where we’re working and training every day. This was the right step and the right way to go. Hopefully I can leave an impression here.”

Manager, Vincent Kompany meanwhile is excited to welcome Vigouroux to the club as part of his long-term project.

Kompany added that Vigouroux has progressed through two “top academy systems” at Brentford and Tottenham, which have helped make him “become the player he is today with stand out performances in recent years.”

The Belgian went on to describe Vigouroux as someone who can’t wait to start managing, as he added: “He is a very talented goalkeeper with a good personality and someone we will enjoy working with.”

“Whilst we are disappointed to see Lawrence go, we would never stand in the way of a player making a move to a Premier League side,” commented Leyton Orient’s Director of Football, Martin Ling on Vigouroux’s departure.

Ling went on to praise the 29 year-old for his performances and attitude as he said: “Lawrence was a fantastic player for us and a great person to have in and around the dressing room. We wish him nothing but the best for the future.”
