2022-23 Premier League: Week 36 – Brentford vs West Ham

Brentford host relegation battling West Ham in a London derby.

Victory would see Thomas Frank’s Bees return to ninth in the table, whilst West Ham can go 13th with a win.

Brentford have no fresh injury concerns to report after last weekend’s loss at Liverpool.

Thomas Strakosha (calf), Pontus Jansson (hamstring), Christian Norgaard (Achilles) and Keane Lewis-Potter (knee) remain absent.

West Ham have no fresh injury concerns to report following Kurt Zouma’s early return from an ankle injury, which saw him start in Thursday’s comeback Europa Conference League win against AZ Alkmaar.

Vladimir Coufal (hamstring) and Gianluca Scamacca (knee) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off

Brentford host West Ham at Gtech Community Stadium at 2pm BST on Sunday 14 May, albeit untelevised live in the UK.

Prediction

With a top-ten finish virtually all but assured, Brentford’s attention now needs to to be on creating momentum to take into next season especially after a positive display at Liverpool where only a disappointing end product and defensive error cost them at least a draw.

West Ham meanwhile have their focus on their Europa Conference League semi-final against AZ Alkmaar so I do expect squad rotation amongst the away team, who dominated AZ Alkmaar in the first leg on Thursday evening yet had to come from behind after a lapse in defensive pressing.

David Moyes’ Hammers though are virtually safe so I wouldn’t be surprised if their minds are already focused on the second leg in Alkmaar, which is something that Brentford can take advantage of if they can show more end product given their form in this league fixture.

Prediction: Brentford 2-1 West Ham

Result: Brentford 2-0 West Ham
