Midfielder, Pascal Gross has signed a new contract to remain at Brighton & Hove Albion until June 2025.
Gross arrived at Brighton from Ingolstadt in Summer 2017 following the Seagulls’ promotion to the Premier League and has gone on to contribute 23 goals and 33 assists in 184 league appearances, plus one goal in 21 combined appearances across FA Cup and League Cup respectively.
This season alone has seen Gross score seven goals and produce eight assists in 35 appearances across all competitions, during which he has missed just one match and shown versatility in playing across multiple positions on the pitch.
Gross’ contract was originally set to expire in June 2024 but this latest deal will see him stay at the AMEX Stadium for a further 12 months.
Speaking about Gross’ decision to sign a new contract, manager – Roberto De Zerbi said: “I am absolutely delighted that Pascal has agreed a new contract with us.
“He is one of best players I have worked with during my career and every day I appreciate him more and more.”
De Zerbi also admitted that Gross has proven to be a key player since the Italian replaced Graham Potter in the dugout in September 2022, as he added: “He is one of the secrets to Albion’s success.”
Gross’ new contract comes days after De Zerbi praised him for his versatility during their comeback Premier League victory at Chelsea, in which he started within midfield but finished the match as a fullback following tactical changes owing to injuries for Evan Ferguson and Joel Veltman.
Gross is also expected to feature in Brighton’s starting line-up for their semi-final clash against Manchester United in this season’s FA Cup, which takes place at Wembley Stadium, London, on Sunday 23 April at 4:30pm BST live on BBC One in the UK.
