Brighton & Hove Albion have re-signed German midfielder, Pascal Gross for an undisclosed transfer fee from Borussia Dortmund.

Gross left Brighton for Dortmund in August 2024 where he scored one goal in 65 appearances and has now re-joined the Seagulls in search of regular game time, after he fell down Dortmund’s pecking order this season as he chases a spot in Germany’s squad for 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 34-year-old has signed a 18-month contract until June 2027 and manager, Fabian Hurzeler was delighted to welcome Gross back, after the German left during his first pre-season in charge of Brighton.

“We are really pleased to have Pascal back with us. He’s a fantastic player and someone I know well and was looking forward to working with when I first came to the club.

“Brighton fans know his attributes, but he brings great leadership qualities to the group. Those qualities, along with his experience and ability, will be a huge asset in the second half of the season.”

Gross previously spent seven years at Brighton between 2017-24 where he scored 32 goals and created 53 assists in 261 appearances in all competitions, and helped Brighton achieve European qualification with sixth place in 2022-23 Premier League which saw them reach the Last 16 in 23-24 UEFA Europa League.
