EFL officials have announced the shortlists across 18 categories ahead of 2022-23 EFL Awards.
Burnley, Middlesbrough and Coventry dominate the main nominations within the Championship, headlined by Vincent Kompany who led the Clarets to promotion in his first season at the club, following their relegation from the Premier League last summer.
Michael Carrick meanwhile has guided Middlesbrough from relegation contenders to promotion challengers since he arrived in late Octoer, with the Teesside-based club currently sat fourth and set for the Play-Offs.
Mark Robins meanwhile has led Coventry to ninth position at time of writing after they failed to win any of their opening seven matches, whilst four of their opening five home games were postponed due to pitch surface repairs and death of Queen Elizabeth II.
All three clubs also dominated the Player of the Season shortlist headlined by Middlesbrough’s Chuba Akpom, who has scored 26 goals this season, of which 22 of his goals were scored since Carrick took charge in late October.
Burnley’s Josh Brownhill and Coventry’s Viktor Gyokeres round out the three-player shortlist after enjoying impressive seasons, with Gyokeres in particular having scored 18 goals and provided nine assists this season.
Middlesbrough also scored a nomination for Young Player of the Season with Hayden Hackney, who will face Bristol City’s Alex Scott and Sunderland’s Amad Diallo for the award.
Boro indeed could claim a quadruple if they were to win every category in which they’re nominated, after also receiving a nomination for EFL Diversity Award.
League One’s three leading promotion contending clubs meanwhile dominated Manager of the Season with Plymouth Argyle’s Steven Schumacher facing Sheffield Wednesday’s Darren Moore and Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna for the gong.
Wednesday’s Barry Bannan meanwhile will face Peterborough’s Jonson Clarke-Harris and Bristol Rovers’ Aaron Collins for the League One Player of the Season award.
Ipswich’s Cameron Humphreys is nominated for League One’s Young Player of the Season but faces competition from Plymouth’s Bali Mumba and Charlton’s Jes Rak-Sakyi for the award.
Leyton Orient’s Ritchie Wellens meanwhile is nominated for League Two’s Manager of the Season, against Carlisle’s Paul Simpson and Stevenage’s Steve Evans.
Stevenage’s Carl Piergianni meanwhile will face the fourth-tier’s top goalscorers, Andy Cook and Sam Hoskins for Player of the Season, after the latter pair managed 24 and 20 goals respectively for Bradford and Northampton Town this season.
Orient’s Jayden Sweeney meanwhile is nominated for League Two’s Young Player of the Season against Colchester United’s Junior Tchamadeu and Swindon Town’s Jacob Wakeling.
