Manchester City meet Bayern Munich at Etihad Stadium in the first leg of their 2022-23 UEFA Champions League Quarter-Final.
Man City hammered RB Leipzig in the Round of 16 to secure their Quarter-Final spot, whilst Bayern Munich cruised past PSG in their first knockout tie of this season’s competition.
Team News

Man City have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 4-1 Premier League victory at Southampton last weekend.
Phil Foden (appendix) remains absent.
Bayern could be without Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting for a second consecutive match, after he missed their Bundesliga win at Freiburg with a knee injury.
Mathys Tel (muscle) also was absent at the weekend and is doubtful for selection
Manuel Neuer (leg) and Lucas Hernandez (knee) both remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Man City host Bayern Munich at Etihad Stadium on Tuesday 11 April at 8pm BST, live on BT Sport 1 in UK.
Stat Attack
- Man City have won three of six previous competitive meetings against Bayern Munich (W3, L3)., which all came in the Champions League.
- Bayern Munich have won just one of two previous visits to Man City’s Etihad Stadium (W1, L2).
- Bayern goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer is the only player from the starting line-up of their last meeting against City in November 2014 to still remain at the club.
- Six of Erling Haaland’s 10 Champions League goals for Man City this season have been scored on his left foot.
- Bayern have kept three clean sheets in four away games in this season’s Champions League (W4), in which they conceded just twice in a 4-2 win at Viktoria Plzen in October.
Prediction
Having produced two dominant aggressive performances in their last two matches, Man City do look like favourites if they can once more bring their high intensity but their defensive marking though does look vulnerable given how Liverpool then Southampton have punished such errors.
Bayern meanwhile haven’t exactly been spectacularly strong away from home in 2023 with just three clean sheets in eight games on the road, despite their goalscoring prowess so I do expect them to at least find the net – having failed to score in just one match all season.
Goals however are surely a certainty given that Bayern are yet to be held to a goalless draw all season, whereas City are in strong form with plenty of attacking players who can press high up with pace in their movement.
I though am backing City to seize the advantage going into the second leg if they can keep their former player – Leroy Sane quiet alongside the likes of Jamal Musiala and Choupo-Moting, otherwise a high-scoring draw surely looks the next guess.
Prediction: Manchester City 2-1 Bayern Munich
Result: Manchester City 3-0 Bayern Munich
