2022-23 Premier League: Week 29 – Bournemouth vs Brighton

Bournemouth meet Brighton & Hove Albion at the Vitality Stadium as both teams chase points at opposite ends of Premier League table.

Victory could see Bournemouth climb to 13th if Nottingham Forest fail to win elsewhere, whilst Brighton will stay sixth with a win.

Ryan Fredericks is ruled out for Bournemouth after he missed Saturday’s win over Fulham due to a calf injury, which initially forced him to sit out their defeat at Aston Villa before the international break.

Junior Stanislas (unspecified) is unlikely to feature.

Brighton could welcome Evan Ferguson back into contention after he missed Saturday’s 3-3 draw against Brentford with a knock.

Tariq Lamptey (knee) could also feature but Jeremy Sarmiento (foot), Jakub Moder (knee) and Adam Lallana (hamstring) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Bournemouth host Brighton in a 7:45pm BST kick-off at Vitality Stadium on Tuesday 4 April, untelevised live in UK but highlights will be broadcast on Sky Sports at 11:45pm.

Prediction

With this match representing Bournemouth’s sole match in hand during the run-in, it is imperative that they take full advantage especially after Saturday’s clinical comeback win against Fulham – where they were sluggish in the first half but full of desire in the second half to snatch the victory.

Brighton meanwhile need to reset defensively after a rarely unstable performance in their cracker of a draw against Brentford, because their defence were all over the place with poor marking amidst a dominant attack which displayed true grit to fight back three times to clinch a point.

This clash though is crucial for both clubs because Bournemouth know a win will boost their survival chances, whereas Brighton need a win to further ignite their top-four ambition and Ferguson’s absence on Saturday could well mean he could be the difference up front with his fresh legs

Roberto De Zerbi’s Seagulls though must sort out their defensive quality but goals are surely guaranteed given Bournemouth’s own defensive issues, although I do feel like Brighton will have the edge amidst their poor Premier League record against the Cherries.

Prediction: Bournemouth 1-2 Brighton

Result: Bournemouth 0-2 Brighton
