Midfielder, Ben Sheaf has signed a new contract to stay at Coventry City until June 2026.

Sheaf’s contract was originally set to expire at end of next season in June 2024 but the 25 year-old has signed a new contract, which will see him remain at Coventry until the end of 2025-26 season.

This fresh contract also comes amidst another strong season for Sheaf who initially joined on loan from Arsenal in September 2020, before he made a permanent transfer 10 months later in July 2021.

Across his time at Coventry, Shead has scored four goals and produced seven assists in 90 appearances across all competitions, following previous loan spells at Stevenage and Doncaster Rovers whilst contracted to Arsenal – where he made just two senior appearances in 2017-18 season.

Coventry City manager, Mark Robins commented upon the announcement of Sheaf’s new contract as he stated that the club “are delighted” to retain Sheaf for two further seasons beyond the original contract expiry date with this new deal.

Robins also praised Sheaf for his development across his time at the CBS Arena as he added: “He has continued to develop over the last few years since he joined us and is now a Championship midfielder with great pedigree, who brings real quality and composure to our squad.”

Robins concluded by expressing his happiness that Sheaf has decided to make “this commitment” as the Sky Blues continue to push for promotion back to the Premier League, having been relegated from the top-flight in 2001 and not returned to England’s top division since then.

Coventry also tweeted a video interview with Sheaf in which he admitted that signing his new contract “was an easy decision!”

Coventry are next in action at home to Stoke City at 3pm BST on Saturday 1 April, and currently sit eighth in the Championship with a three point deficit to sixth-placed Millwall, who occupy the last play-off spot.
