Goalkeeper, Neto has signed a three-year contract extension at Bournemouth until June 2026.
Neto joined Bournemouth from Barcelona last summer on a free transfer with a 12-month contract, and has made 18 appearances across all competitions.
The Brazilian also recently became club captain beginning with a 1-0 loss at Brighton – due to Lloyd Kelly being demoted due to an injury hit season, with manager Gary O’Neill at the time explaining that Neto has “real leadership qualities” which the club can explore across remainder of season.
Bournemouth Chief Executive, Neill Blake commented that the club “are delighted” that Neto has opted to sign a fresh three-year contract, having been one of their most “important” signings this season with “some outstanding performances on the pitch.”
Blake also praised Neto for his leadership and willingness to stay with the Cherries as he added: “He’s also proven to be a great leader in and around the dressing room and he’s highly respected across the club.
“For a player of Neto’s quality to want to extend his time at AFC Bournemouth is testament to the progress being made at the club.”
Neto added that he is “really happy” to sign a new contract to stay at the Vitality Stadium for three further seasons, as he praised fans for their “unbelievable” support.
The 33 year-old also iterated that he will do everything he can to help Bournemouth avoid relegation to the Championship, with the Cherries currently sat 19th in the table but just one point off safety in a tight relegation battle.
Explaining his ambitions for the run-in, Neto said: “We will give our 100% to make sure we stay in the Premier League now and always do our best.”
