Premier League officials have confirmed the fixture schedule for the UK Bank Holiday weekend of 6-8 May.
Whilst the early May Bank Holiday weekend is traditional in the UK, it also doubles up as King Charles III’s coronation weekend with events taking place across the country.
Premier League officials have consequently opted to spread Matchweek 35 fixtures over three days across 6-8 May, purely for logistical reasons in terms of travel around the country to avoid placing London’s transport infrastructure under immense pressure.
Four fixtures will be played on Saturday 6 May with Brentford’s trip to Liverpool chosen for live coverage on Sky Sports, in a 5:30pm BST kick-off at Anfield.
Three further fixtures will be played at 3pm untelevised within the traditional UK blackout window – which won’t be enforced that weekend due to no Sky Bet Championship fixtures being played that afternoon.
Tottenham Hotspur’s London derby against Crystal Palace at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium headlines the 3pm kick-offs, coupled with Wolves’ West Midlands derby against Aston Villa at Molineux and Chelsea’s trip to Bournemouth.
Fulham’s home clash against Leicester at Craven Cottage meanwhile remains a 3pm kick-off but has been pushed back 48 hours to Monday 8 May, albeit untelevised in the UK.
Three Premier League matches will be televised on Sunday 7 May beginning with Manchester City’s home clash against Leeds at 2pm on Sky, although that fixture could be brought forward to Saturday 6 May if Man City are in Champions League action on 9 May.
Newcastle will host Arsenal at 4:30pm live on Sky Sports in a game where Mikel Arteta’s Gunners could seal the title, should the mathematical possibility arise by that point of the run-in.
BT meanwhile will air Manchester United’s trip to West Ham at 7pm on Sunday 7 May, followed by Brighton’s home clash against Everton at 5:30pm on Monday 8 May which fills Brighton’s minimum quota on BT and leaves the broadcaster with option to drop the Seagulls’ rescheduled trip to Newcastle.
Premier League officials will confirm details of Brighton’s rearranged visit to Newcastle in due course, with the fixture having been postponed following Newcastle’s progression to the Carabao Cup Final in late February, where they eventually lost to Man Utd.
Sky Sports will wrap up the Bank Holiday weekend with a key clash in the race for survival as Nottingham Forest host Southampton in Monday Night Football on 8 May, in a 8pm kick-off at the City Ground.
Details of three rearranged fixtures have also been confirmed with Sky airing Man City’s home clash against West Ham on Wednesday 3 May, before Brighton host Man Utd on Thursday 4 May with both matches confirmed as 8pm kick-off at Etihad Stadium and AMEX Stadium respectively.
Liverpool’s home clash against Fulham has also been rescheduled for 3 May at 8pm but won’t be broadcast live in UK.
