2022-23 FA Cup: Quarter-Finals – Manchester United vs Fulham

Manchester United meet Fulham at Old Trafford in a huge Quarter-Final tie in 2022-23 FA Cup.

Victory would see Man Utd reach the semi-finals for the second time in four seasons, whilst Fulham are chasing a first appearance in the last four in 21 years.

Antony is a doubt for Man Utd after he missed their Europa League win at Real Betis due to illness.

Casemiro begins a four-match domestic ban after he was red carded in Utd’s goalless draw against Southampton last weekend.

Christian Eriksen (ankle), Donny van de Beek (knee), Alejandro Garnacho (ankle), Anthony Martial (fitness) and Mason Greenwood (personal) remain absent.

Fulham could be without Willan after the Brazilian midfielder missed their defeat against Arsenal last weekend, due to a back injury.

Joao Palhinha (suspension) and Cedric Soares (eligiblity) could return but Tom Cairney (ankle), Neeskens Kebano (Achilles) and Layvin Kurzawa (knee) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Man Utd host Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday 19 March in a 4:30pm GMT kick-off, live on ITV1 in UK.

Stat Attack

  • Man Utd are unbeaten in 10 meetings across their last eight ties (W8, D2), of which two of those eight ties needed a replay.
  • Fulham have failed to win in any of seven previous FA Cup visits to Man Utd at Old Trafford (D2, L5).
  • Utd have scored four goals in each of their last two FA Cup meetings against Fulham (W2).
  • Fred has scored in each of Utd’s last two home ties in the FA Cup (W2).
  • Layvin Kurzawa has scored in each of Fulham’s two FA Cup ties away from home this season (W2).

Prediction

Having played the majority of their domestic cup ties at home this season, Man Utd should feel confident of securing a semi-final place but having scraped past Real Betis in a scrappy contest, it remains to be seen just how much energy is still within Utd’s tank given their busy schedule.

Fulham though were absolutely outclassed by Arsenal last weekend with awful defending of crosses, whilst their attack suffered from poor end product accuracy so there is plenty to improve, especially because this is their best chance at winning a cup trophy in years.

Joao Palhinha’s return will also be a welcome boost for Fulham but unless they’re clinical and can stop their recent defensive dip, I just can’t see them troubling Utd unless can win out in the midfield due to Casemiro’s absence for the hosts.

Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Fulham

Result: Manchester United 3-1 Fulham
