Reigning GB3 champion, Luke Browning will complete the 2023 F3 grid after signing for Hitech GP.
Despite clinching the GB3 title last Autumn, Browning had been coy on his 2023 plans across the off-season before he featured in the pre-season test with Hitech GP, where he finished sixth in the afternoon session on the opening day of the test.
This move also sees Browning stay with the team which took him to the GB3 title last season, which has left the 21 year-old “excited” about graduating into F3.
On how he has developed so far under Hitech across the past year, Browning commented: “We had a fantastic season in GB3 last year. These past 12 months I have really developed as a driver with their guidance and professionalism,” as he prepares for the F3 season-opener.
Browning also iterated that he is “very thankful” for those who continue to support him but iterated that F3 will be tough, as he said: “I am under no illusions how competitive FIA F3 is and stepping into the car for the first time in February will be a steep learning curve before we head to Bahrain.”
The Brit nevertheless believes that he can fight for top-ten finishes quickly despite only featuring in the pre-season test, as he added: “I feel confident with everyone at Hitech that I can hit the ground running!”
Hitech Team Principal, Oliver Oakes meanwhile is “delighted” to finally confirm Browning as their third driver for the F3 season.
Oakes also iterated that he believes that Browning can adapt to F3 quickly as he continued: “We had a fantastic year with him in GB3, securing the driver’s title with five wins, and we are confident his experience will be of great value to the team.”
Browning now completes the F3 grid with the number 16 car and will partner Sebastian Montoya plus Alpine junior, Gabriele Mini, with the season commencing in Bahrain across 3-5 March.
