Arsenal forward, Marquinhos has joined Norwich City on loan until end of 2022-23 season.

Marquinhos joined Arsenal from Sao Paulo in June 2022 but has been limited to six senior appearances without playing an entire match, despite having featured regularly in the matchday squad.

Manager, Mikel Arteta has therefore sanctioned this loan move to ensure that the 19 year-old Brazilian gains more first-team experience, whilst continuing to develop his game rather than risk stagenating his progress on the bench at Arsenal.

Speaking about his decision to accept a loan move to Norwich until end of the current season, Marquinhos commented: “I’m really happy to arrive here in Norwich and very excited to play my first game.

“I’ve learnt a lot as part of my adaptation here in England. It’s totally different to Brazil. It’s more intensive but I’m adapting well in order to help Norwich.

“I’m also really happy to get to know a new club, a new culture and a new city. The fans can expect that I’ll show desire.”

Norwich Head Coach, David Wagner who replaced Dean Smith earlier this month added that he is “delighted” to welcome Marquinhos to Carrow Road, as he iterated that the 19 year-old “is a young and exciting wide player, who wants to learn and further continue his development.”

Wagner also praised Arsenal for their trust in allowing Marquinhos to join Norwich in order to continue his development and Canaries’ Sporting Director, Stuart Webber for his due diligence in swiftly completing this loan deal.

The German-American manager concluded that he now is excited to welcome Marquinhos to their “first-team group ahead of the remainder of the season.”

Marquinhos could make his debut for Norwich in a home clash against Burnley on Saturday 4 February at 12:30pm GMT live on Sky Sports, as the sixth-placed Canaries host the Championship leaders.
