2022-23 Premier League: Week 20 – Leeds vs Brentford

Leeds United welcome Brentford to Elland Road in the first of a Super Sunday double-header.

Victory would see Leeds climb to 14th in the table and move three points clear of the relegation zone, whilst Brentford can go sixth with a win.

Max Wober is a doubt for Leeds after he suffered a hip injury during their FA Cup replay victory against Cardiff in midweek.

Liam Cooper (knee) and Robin Koch (knock) are doubtful but Adam Forshaw (hip), Crysencio Summerville (ankle), Archie Gray (toe) and Stuart Dallas (thigh) are still sidelined.

Brentford could be without Rico Henry after he missed their victory against Bournemouth with a calf injury.

Aaron Hickey (fitness) is a doubt but Pontus Jansson, Frank Onyeka (both hamstring) and Shandon Baptiste (adductor) remain ruled out.

Prediction

Having ruthlessly thrashed Cardiff in midweek with one of their best attacking performances in a long time, this match now is a test of whether Leeds can build upon that rare display but their defence still looks there for the taking at times which is a concern.

Brentford meanwhile were clinical in a routine win over Bournemouth last weekend amidst wasteful moments when on the attack, compared to brighter quality when played on the counter-attack so it will be interesting to see how the Bees attack this game.

Both teams though do have the potential to bring high-intensity to their attacking play so I do expect a feisty encounter, especially after their cracker in West London in early September – which should hopefully mean this game doesn’t finish goalless.

A draw though feels like an easy bet but I do fancy Brentford to get a result here if they can make their fresh legs count, given how vulnerable Leeds’ defence can be when put under pressure as even Cardiff exposed on Wednesday evening.

Prediction: Leeds 2-3 Brentford

Result: Leeds 0-0 Brentford
