2022-23 Premier League: Week 20 – Leicester vs Brighton

Leicester City welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to King Power Stadium in a crucial match.

Victory will see Leicester climb to 13th if Forest lose elsewhere and move further away from the relegation zone, whilst Brighton can go fifth with a win.

Ayoze Perez is a doubt for Leicester after he missed their defeat at Nottingham Forest with a muscle injury.

Kieran Dewsbury-Hall (gluteal) and James Maddison (knee) could both return to the matchday squad but James Justin, Ricardo Pereira (both Achilles), Jonny Evans (calf), Boubakary Soumare (hamstring) and Ryan Bertrand (knee) all remain absent.

Brighton could be without Levi Colwill who is struggling with a muscle injury.

Jakub Moder (knee) remains ruled out.

Leandro Trossard meanwhile has left the Seagulls to join Arsenal in a £27m transfer.

When is Kick-Off?

Leicester meet Brighton at King Power Stadium on Saturday 21 January in a 3pm GMT kick-off, albeit untelevised in UK.

Stat Attack

  • Leicester are unbeaten in three of their last five league meetings against Brighton (W2, D1, L2).
  • Brighton are yet to win away at Leicester in the Premier League (D2, L3).
  • Victory would see Brighton achieve successive wins against Leicester in the same Premier League season for the first time.
  • Brendan Rogers’ Foxes have scored one goal and conceded eight goals in their last four league matches (L4).
  • Brighton have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight league matches (W5, L3), which came in a 3-0 home win over Liverpool last weekend.

Prediction

Having enjoyed a solid run of form ahead of the World Cup break, Leicester seem to have gone backwards since the season resumed with four consecutive league defeats, which was summed up in a wasteful end product at Forest despite their excellent attacking ability.

Brighton meanwhile absolutely dominated Liverpool in one of their best all-round performances yet but if they want an European spot, they will need to break their away hoodoo at Leicester so this game will be a tough test of their credentials.

End product therefore feels key in this match because if Leicester can tidy up their final touch, they could stand a good chance otherwise I fancy Brighton to continue their strong goal-scoring form with another win.

Prediction: Leicester 1-2 Brighton

Result: Leicester 2-2 Brighton
