Theo Pourchaire has confirmed that he will stay with ART GP for 2023 FIA F2 season.
Pourchaire first graduated to F2 in late 2020 as a replacement driver for HWA Racelab after he finished as vice-champion in F3 that season with ART GP, of whom he stayed with for full-time F2 campaigns in 2021 and 2022.
Across his time in F2 with ART GP, Pourchaire has accumulated five wins plus five second-placed finishes across two full seasons in the category, during which he finished as runner-up last season to Felipe Drugovich.
Speaking about his decision to stay in F2 with ART GP for a third consecutive season, Pourchaire said that he “couldn’t be happier” to stay with a team which feels like “a family to me.”
Pourchaire reflected on his and ART GP’s progress together as they once again target a title challenge, as he added: “We have had intense moments over the past three years and it’s important to prepare for the 2023 championship with a team that knows me and knows how to put me in the best possible situations.
“We may have lacked success last year, but we gained experience that makes us even stronger. I will do everything I can to bring the title to ART Grand Prix this season”
ART GP Team Principal, Sebastien Philippe added that Pourchaire has “a technical and personal maturity which, combined with his speed and his combativeness,” to become “a major asset” for the team as they once again look to fight for the drivers’ title
On what is needed to avoid another season of disappointment, Philippe stated that 2022 highlighted “how much every detail counts” across the campaign, as he vowed to try and “master everything in our power to optimize our chances of winning the title in 2023.”
ART GP will announce Pourchaire’s teammate in due course with 2022 F3 champion, Victor Martins considered the favourite to partner his French compatriot this season.
Pourchaire will also continue his role as Alfa Romeo’s F1 reserve driver this season.
