Nikola Tsolov has signed to race for ART GP in 2023 FIA F3 season.

Tsolov’s graduation to F3 comes after a successful rookie single-seater campaign as he cruised to the Spanish F4 title with Campos, during which he took 13 race victories and five further podium finishes plus claimed 15 pole positions.

The Bulgarian also went on to enjoy a successful F3 post-season test with ART GP and has now signed a contract to complete his move up to F3, following extensive negotiations, which he has described as “a pleasure” to finally make that “super happy” step up.

Tsolov is part of Alpine’s Affiliate programme aimed at supporting upcoming talent on the road to F1, and the 15 year-old – who turns 16 on Wednesday – has described ART GP as “very successful” given their proven record for helping drivers progress into F1 from across various junior categories.

ART GP Team Principal, Sebastien Philippe praised Tsolov for “his ability to adapt quickly and well to a new environment as well as getting the most out of the car.”

On why ART GP decided to sign Tsolov for next season after an impressive F3 test, Philippe added: “His natural speed is reinforced by a great thirst for learning and by remarkable seriousness and determination for such a young age.

“Nikola fits the profile of the young drivers ART Grand Prix takes under its wing and, in the wake of the team securing the FIA Formula 3 with Victor Martins, we want to lay the foundations for a strong line-up, one that is capable of fighting for victory from the very first race of 2023.”

Tsolov is the second driver confirmed at ART GP for next season, alongside Gregoire Saucy who will remain with the French team for a second season, with their final driver set to be announced in due course.
