Midfielder, Ella Toone has signed an one-year contract extension at Manchester United until June 2026.
Toone had previously signed a contract extension until June 2025 in November 2021 but has now decided to extend her contract for a further 12 months until June 2026, following a strong year during which she scored twice at UEFA Women’s Euro with vital goals – as England triumphed on home soil.
“I’m delighted to sign a new contract at Manchester United,” commented Toone as she further consolidates her place at Utd for the next four years, with the club currently sat third in the Women’s Super League and involved in a three-way title fight with Arsenal and Chelsea.
Explaining exactly why she has opted to sign the one-year extension less than 12 months after her last extension, Toone said: “The club’s ambitions really match mine and there’s nowhere better for me to learn.
“To play for my childhood club I support is really special and I’ll never get tired of pulling on the Red shirt. To now be able to do that for even longer is a proud moment for me and my family.”
Utd Women manager, Marc Skinner meanwhile iterated that Toone’s renewed “long-term commitment” to the club serves as further proof of Utd’s “continued investment in the future success of this team,” as they look to challenge for trophies this season.
On the importance of Toone’s commitment to Utd moving forward, Skinner added: “Ella has always been and remains a key member of our squad on and off the field, and we are delighted she will continue to wear our famous colours with pride for years to come.”
Utd’s new Head of Women’s Football, Polly Bancroft hailed Toone as a player who symbolises the club as she commented: “Ella epitomises everything Manchester United stands for, and her new long-term contract reflects the club’s ambition of continued growth and success, with a role model of her quality at the centre.”
Utd are next in action on Saturday 19 November as they visit Arsenal at Emirates Stadium, Holloway, London in a 5:30pm kick-off, live on Sky Sports.
