2022-23 Premier League: Week Ten – Leeds vs Arsenal

Two English giants collide as Leeds United host Arsenal at Elland Road in an untelevised Super Sunday clash.

Victory could move Leeds five points clear of the relegation zone, whereas a win would see Arsenal stay top of the table.

Luis Sinisterra could return for Leeds after he missed last weekend’s defeat at Crystal Palace due to suspension.

Leo Fuhr (illness) and Junior Firpo (knock) are also set to return but Archie Gray (toe), Adam Forshaw (ankle) and Stuart Dallas (thigh) are still sidelined.

Arsenal could welcome Gabriel Jesus back into the starting line-up after he was rested for their midweek Europa League win away to Bodø/Glimt.

Oleksandr Zinchenko (muscle) could also feature but Emile Smith Rowe (groin) and Mohamed Elneny (hamstring) remain absent.

Prediction

After producing an excellent first-half display to initially lead at Palace with fantastic pressing and movement, Leeds will certainly be disappointed to have lost that game through two tiny errors, but they should take the positives and try to build upon their performance here.

Arsenal meanwhile weren’t at their best at Bodø/Glimt but they did have to deal with an artificial pitch surface, yet were still able to snatch a clinical winner and defend resolutely of which the latter is an huge improvement on their defensive effort against Liverpool last weekend.

Mikel Arteta was also wise to rest Gabriel Jesus given the unnatural surface that they encountered whilst Gabriel was correctly snubbed, following his sloppy defensive effort against Liverpool so I hope that he improves if he returns here.

High-intensity attacking however seems to be favoured by both teams so I expect an entertaining battle but the first goal will be crucial, of which I can see Arsenal winning given their consistency and quality compared to Leeds.

Prediction: Leeds 1-3 Arsenal

Result: Leeds 0-1 Arsenal
