Manchester City have been handed a difficult group following the Group Stage draw for 2022-23 UEFA Champions League.
Pep Guardiola’s City have found themselves in Group G alongside six-time Europa League champions – Sevilla, whilst Borussia Dortmund will also pose difficult opposition for City in a potential three-way scrap for a knockout spot and Denmark’s Copenhagen completes that group.
Last season’s runners-up, Liverpool have found themselves in a tough-looking Group A where they will face Scotland’s Rangers in a ‘Battle of Britain’, with both teams joined in the group by Ajax and Napoli.
On their return to Champions League after a two-season absence, Tottenham have been placed in Group D where they will face reigning Europa League champions – Eintracht Frankfurt plus also meet Sporting Lisbon and Marseille.
Two-time champions, Chelsea face an easy-looking Group E where they will take on seven-time champions, AC Milan, with the pair joined in that group by Red Bull Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb.
Reigning Scottish champions and 1967 winners, Celtic have been drawn in Group F where they will face reigning champions – Real Madrid plus RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk.
Elsewhere, Bayern Munich and Barcelona who share 11 Champions League titles between them dating back to the ‘European Cup’ era have been drawn together in Group C, along with Inter Milan and Viktoria Plzen.
Group H saw PSG drawn alongside two-time champions – Juventus with the pair joined by Benfica and Macabbi Haifa.
Finally, Group B will see Porto and Atletico Madrid face Bayer Leverkusen and Club Brugge in a potentially open group, from which any of those four teams can qualify for the Round of 16.
In a change to usual Group Stage scheduling due to 2022 FIFA World Cup taking place across November-December, this season’s six group matchdays will be played in three pairs of consecutive matchweeks across following dates between 6 September – 2 November;

Across all six matchdays, each group will play three matches on Tuesdays and Wednesdays apiece as determined by UEFA organisers.
