Arsenal welcome Leicester City to Emirates Stadium in a mouth-watering Premier League encounter.
Victory could see Arsenal go top if results elsewhere go in their favour, whilst Leicester can leapfrog the Gunners into higher echelons of the table with a win.
Team News
Fabio Vieira could make his debut for Arsenal after he missed their opening weekend win at Crystal Palace with a foot injury.
Emile Smith Rowe could also feature after recovering from a muscle injury.
Leicester have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 2-2 draw against Brentford, as Ricardo Pereira (Achilles), Ryan Bertrand and Harvey Barnes (both knee) remain absent.
Stat Attack
- Arsenal have lost just one of their last five league meetings against Leicester (W3, D1, L1).
- Leicester have won just one of eight previous league visits to Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium (W1, D1, L6).
- Arsenal won both meetings against Leicester last season by 2-0 results (W2).
- Eddie Nketiah has scored three goals in Arsenal’s last two home matches (W2).
- James Maddison has scored in each of Leicester’s last two away matches (W1, D1).
Prediction
Having invested heavily over the summer, Arsenal’s efforts certainly seems to have reinvigorated the squad because their attacking quality at Palace was excellent, yet their midfield and defensive quality faded in the second half at times so I want to see them maintain their quality across 90 minutes here.
Leicester meanwhile looked fresh in terms of energy and attacking intent in their draw against Brentford but their defensive marking slipped after the hour mark, which ultimately nearly cost them the match so I am expecting them to come here more focused in what will be a physical battle.
This game though is Arsenal’s to lose given their form in this fixture but I can see a tough entertaining battle if both teams play like they did last week, although Leicester need to retain their defensive focus across entire match if want a point.
Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Leicester
Result: Arsenal 4-2 Leicester
