Manchester United have signed striker, Nikita Parris from Arsenal for an undisclosed fee.
Parris’ move to Utd comes after she scored six goals in just one season at Arsenal following her return to the Women’s Super League (WSL) last summer, after having spent two seasons at Lyon.
Parris has signed a two-year contract at Utd which will see the 28 year-old striker play alongside her England teammates; Mary Earps, Ella Toone and Alessia Russo.
Speaking about her move to the Red Devils, Parris said: “It feels unbelievable to be here. It’s been quite a summer, and this tops it off. Manchester United is an historic club who are making big movements in the WSL and I can’t wait to be a part of our future success.”
On what fans can expect from her across the next two seasons, Parris added: “With my winning mentality in matches and training, I want to help this team move forward and grow.
“I’m not the only new signing this summer, which shows the intention of the club to do exactly that. I’m so happy to be here and can’t wait to get started.”
Manager, Marc Skinner meanwhile explained that Parris’ “winning pedigree” will add extra belief to his squad, with Parris having won league and cup titles at Manchester City and Lyon plus 2019-20 UEFA Women’s Champions League with the latter.
In total, Parris has won nine club titles overall plus helped England win 2019 SheBelieves Cup plus Arnold Clark Cup and UEFA Women’s Euros in this calendar year alone, during which she has scored 15 goals and earned 67 international caps playing for England.
Skinner is therefore hopeful that Parris can help elevate his squad to achieve further success after they finished fourth in the WSL last season, as he continued: “She is a proven winner on both the domestic and international stage and will bring a real maturity to the environment.”
Parris is currently on a break following England’s UEFA Women’s Euro success but Skinner has refused to rush her back for pre-season as he iterated that she needs “a well-deserved rest!”
Parris could make her Utd debut away to Tottenham in the opening match of 2022-23 WSL on Saturday 10 September, live on Sky Sports.
