BBC To Broadcast Two London Derbies Amongst September’s WSL TV Picks

BBC will broadcast two London derbies in September 2022 following confirmation of TV picks for opening month of new WSL season.

BBC will kick off their coverage of 2022-23 Women’s Super League (WSL) season at Stamford Bridge on Sunday 11 September, as reigning champions – Chelsea host West Ham in their opening clash live on BBC2 from 12:30pm BST.

Manchester City’s trip to Aston Villa will also be broadcast live on BBC2 on Sunday 18 September at 12:30pm BST, with the Citizens having won all four previous WSL clashes against Villa without conceding.

BBC will also broadcast the North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham at Emirates Stadium on Saturday 24 September, with kick-off confirmed for 1:30pm BST live on BBC One.

Sky Sports will meanwhile broadcast five matches across the opening three matchweeks, including the season opener between Tottenham and Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 10 September live from 12:30pm BST.

Sky will also air the concluding match of the opening matchweek as Manchester City host Arsenal in an early blockbuster clash in the title race on Sunday 11 September with kick-off set for 6:45pm BST.

Liverpool’s first home match back in the WSL since February 2020 will take place on Sunday 18 September at 6:45pm live on Sky Sports, as the Reds host Chelsea at Prenton Park, Birkenhead.

With the men’s domestic game on an international break across 24-25 September, Sky will conclude the opening month of the new WSL season with a Super Sunday double-header.

Chelsea will kick off the double-header with a crunch early home clash against Man City in the title race at 4pm BST, followed by a mouth-watering Merseyside derby at Anfield as Liverpool host Everton in a 6:45pm BST kick-off.
