Tino Anjorin has re-joined Huddersfield Town on loan from Chelsea for 2022-23 season.
Anjorin first joined Huddersfield in the second-half of last season after his loan at Russia’s Lokomotiv Moscow was terminated due to a broken metatarsal, with the 20 year-old attacking midfielder eventually scoring once in eight substitute appearances for the Terriers.
Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel named Anjorin in the Blues’ pre-season squad for their USA tour this month, but has released him to re-join Huddersfield on a season-long loan with Anjorin returning from America last night (21 July) to complete his loan move.
Anjorin this season will play under Danny Schofield following Carlos Corberan’s resignation earlier this month, with Schofield “incredibly happy” to secure Anjorin on a season-long loan after showcasing his ability once fully recovered from his metatarsal injury last season.
On Anjorin’s first-team experience at Chelsea during pre-season, Schofield added: “Tino now joins us on the back of that demanding work with us and he’s been flying in pre-season.
“We’re all excited to have him with us again, and for him to show our fans what he is all about!”
Huddersfield’s Head of Football Operations, Leigh Bromby added his thanks to Chelsea for agreeing to let Anjorin re-join the Terriers, as further evidence of their growing “great relationship” after Levi Colwill enjoyed a successful loan at Huddersfield last season.
On the decision to re-sign Anjorin, Bromby said: “Tino is up there with most 20-year-olds in the country in terms of talent. He was unlucky last season with the injury he sustained, but our coaches saw more than enough in their work with him to push hard for his return for the coming season.
“We had to be patient as he went away with Chelsea’s First Team, but when the opportunity presented itself, we didn’t hesitate. Tino had lots of options, but it speaks volumes for the work of our staff that he knew this was where he wanted to come.”
Anjorin will wear the number eight shirt this season and could make his first appearance of this latest loan spell at home against Burnley on Friday 29 July, live on Sky Sports in a 8pm BST kick-off in the opening match of 2022-23 Sky Bet Championships season.
