England Lionesses Unveil Squad Numbers For 2022 UEFA Women’s Euros

England Lionesses’ squad numbers have been unveiled ahead of 2022 UEFA Women’s Euros, which is hosted on English soil between 6-31 July.

Goalkeeper, Mary Earps who started in goal in the friendly victories over Belgium and Netherlands has been handed the number one shirt for the tournament, having established herself as the first-choice goalie under Sarina Wiegman with 10 starts in 13 matches under the Dutch manager.

Fellow Goalkeepers, Hannah Hampton and Ellie Roebuck have been handed shirt numbers 13 and 21 respectively.

2020’s Best FIFA Women’s Player, Lucy Bronze will wear shirt no.2 throughout the tournament with her fellow defenders; Rachel Daly, Alex Greenwood, Millie Bright, Jess Carter, Demi Stokes and Lotte Wubben-Moy handed the following shirt numbers; 3, 5, 6, 12, 15 and 22 respectively.

Captain, Leah Williamson will wear shirt number eight as she prepares to continue in midfield alongside Keira Walsh, Georgia Stanway, Fran Kirby and Jill Scott who have been handed shirt numbers; 4, 10, 14 and 16 respectively.

Up front, Ellen White needs to score just four goals to become England’s outright record goalscorer across men and women’s teams, with the 33 year-old set to wear her infamous number nine shirt throughout the tournament.

Beth Mead who broke the outright record for most international goals in a single season with her brace against the Netherlands, will wear the number seven shirt throughout the Women’s Euros as she looks to continue her strong form under Wiegman.

Lauren Hemp who has impressed in this month’s warm-up friendlies and particularly with two assists and one goal against Netherlands, has been handed the number 11 shirt which she had worn in both friendlies.

Nikita Parris, Chloe Kelly, Bethany England, Ella Toone and Alessia Russo round out the forward selection with the following shirt numbers; 17, 18, 19, 20 and 23 respectively.

England will kick off the tournament on Wednesday 6 July with the opening match at Old Trafford against Austria, before facing Norway and Northern Ireland in their two other group matches in Brighton and Southampton on 11 and 15 July respectively.
