Charlton Athletic will host QPR in a London derby in the stand-out tie of First Round draw for 2022-23 Carabao Cup.
Ben Garner’s Addicks will host QPR at The Valley in a huge First Round tie in the Southern Section, where the Hoops have won just one of their last 12 visits to The Valley in all competitions.
Other Southern Section highlights include 2012-13 winners, Swansea City visiting Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium, whilst Norwich – who are the only relegated Premier League team from last season involved in this round – will host Birmingham City in an all-Championship tie.
Across in the Northern Section, Michael O’Neill’s Stoke City face a tricky away tie to League One’s Morecambe at the Globe Arena, as the Potters look to avoid an early cupset.
Mark Hughes’ Bradford City meanwhile will look to spring a shock at home to Hull City at Valley Parade as the Bantams look to create another fairytale cup run – having reached the Final in 2012-13 edition of the competition.
Stockport County return to this competition for the first time since 2010-11 season but have been handed a tough all-League Two tie away at Harrogate Town.
Other Northern highlights include a rematch between Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland, just months after the Black Cats beat the Owls in the League One Play-Off Semi-Finals en route to promotion.
Huddersfield and West Bromwich Albion will be at home in all-Championship ties against Preston and Sheffield United respectively.
First Round ties will be played in the midweek of 9-11 August with the winners all advancing to the Second Round, where they will be joined by Burnley and Watford plus Premier League teams not involved in UEFA competitions.
Premier League clubs involved in European competitions will enter at the Third Round stage of the competition.
