Wolves welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Molineux in a mid-table Premier League clash.
Victory would see Wolves stay eighth in the table unless they win by five or more goals which would see them climb to seventh, whereas Brighton are looking to go ninth with a win if Newcastle lose elsewhere in the lunchtime kick-off.
Team News
Ruben Neves is unlikely to feature for Wolves as he continues to near a return to full fitness, following a knee injury.
Max Kilman (knock) and Daniel Podence (foot) are ruled out.
Brighton will be without Jeremy Sarmiento as he recovers from a minor hamstring injury.
Yves Bissouma is back from suspension but Tarique Lamptey (knee) is a doubt and will face a late fitness test.
Jakub Moder remains ruled out with a knee injury.
Stat Attack
- Wolves have avoided defeat in six of seven Premier League meetings against Brighton (W2, D4, L1).
- Brighton are yet to win at Molineux in the Premier League (W1, D2).
- Both teams have been scored from one penalty kick apiece in seven Premier League meetings.
- No Wolves player has made more headed clearances this season than Romain Saiss who has made 77 headed clearances in 29 league appearances.
- Brighton’s Robert Sanchez has made seven more punches this season than he managed last season – having made 10 punches compared to three punches in 2020-21 season.
Prediction
Despite suffering consecutive 1-0 defeats, Wolves are just about still in the fight for European qualification but they will need to perform better in possession and passing play, which proved their downfall in last Sunday’s defeat at Burnley despite playing well in attack but were often denied by Nick Pope.
Brighton meanwhile were excellent in attack against Southampton complete with fantastic movement on and off the ball, although their end products were often denied by strong goalkeeping whilst sloppy errors and particular marking of James Ward-Prowse denied them victory in an eventual 2-2 draw.
Now if both clubs can bring that attacking quality then this certainly will be an exciting match but should Brighton turn up with the same attacking intensity as last weekend, I just can’t see them not winning this but it should be a tight result.
Prediction: Wolves 1-2 Brighton
Result: Wolves 0-3 Brighton
