2021-22 Sky Bet Championship: Week 44 – Saturday

Peterborough United welcome Nottingham Forest to Weston Homes Stadium in a huge clash at opposite ends of the table.

Peterborough must simply win to realistically keep their survival hopes alive although they will be relegated regardless of their result if Reading win elsewhere.

Nottingham Forest meanwhile could go fourth with a win if Luton lose at lunchtime to Blackpool.

Joe Ward is a doubt for Peterborough after suffering a dead leg in their win at Barnsley on Easter Monday.

Hayden Coulson (unspecified) and Jorge Grant (knock) are in contention to return but Steven Benda (finger), Oliver Norburn (knee), Callum Morton (shoulder), Nathan Thompson (muscle) and Dan Butler (ankle) remain absent.

Forest could welcome Lewis Grabban back into contention after he recovered from illness, which forced him to miss Easter Monday’s win over West Brom.

Max Lowe (groin) and Keinan Davis (hamstring) remains absent.

Stat Attack

  • Peterborough have won just one of their last seven meetings against Nottingham Forest (W1, L6).
  • Forest have won each of their last four visits to Peterborough (W4).
  • Peterborough have lost each of their last two home matches against Forest by 1-0 results in April and October 2012.
  • Jonson Clarke-Harris has been involved in 14 of Peterborough’s goals this season, in which he netted 11 goals and provided three assists.
  • Scott McKenna has started all 41 of Forest’s league matches this season.

Prediction

Having kept their slim survival hopes alive with a clinical well-executed win at Barnsley, Peterborough now need to take the positives of a stubborn defensive display and ruthless attacking and apply that here if they’re to stand any chance of staying up if Reading fail to win elsewhere.

Forest meanwhile were simply ruthless in how they brushed West Brom aside with a dominant all-round display, which is a welcome boost after their defeat at Luton on Good Friday and their away form in this fixture also offers them real hope of a win.

I however do not expect Peterborough to go down too easily so this could well get scrappy if the Posh deliver another defensive effort, otherwise Forest should win comfortably if they can get in front early and control the match.

Prediction: Peterborough 0-2 Nottingham Forest

Result: Peterborough 0-1 Nottingham Forest
