2021-22 Sky Bet Championship: Week 38 – Saturday

Huddersfield welcome Bournemouth to John Smith’s Stadium in a blockbuster Sky Bet Championship showdown in the race for automatic promotion.

Victory would see Huddersfield stay third on goal difference but move level on points with second-placed Bournemouth, whereas Scott Parker’s Cherries can open up a six-point lead over the Terriers with a win.

Carel Eiting could return for Huddersfield after missing their defeat at Millwall in midweek with an unspecified injury.

Tino Anjorin (fitness) is a doubt but Alex Vallejo, Rolando Aarons (both knee) and Ryan Schofield (shoulder) remain ruled out.

Bournemouth could welcome Leif Davis back into contention after he missed their 1-1 draw against Reading in midweek with a hip injury.

Robbie Brady (calf) is unlikely to be risked but Kieffer Moore (foot), Junior Stanislas (hamstring) and David Brooks (illness) remain absent.

Prediction

Having endured a frustrating defeat at Millwall on Wednesday evening, Huddersfield were simply outplayed despite making a strong start but a reaction is required here if they’re to keep their automatic promotion dreams alive.

Bournemouth meanwhile weren’t sharp enough in Tuesday’s draw against Reading despite dominating the game, which ultimately was punished by the Royals yet the Cherries can take heart coming into this match of their strong form in this fixture.

This game though has automatic promotion hopes hanging at stake so I expect both teams to go for it here but first goal will be crucial, because if Bournemouth score first then I fancy them to push for a win here such is their head-to-head dominance over the Terriers.

Prediction: Huddersfield 1-2 Bournemouth

Result: Huddersfield 0-3 Bournemouth
