2021-22 Sky Bet Championship: Week 14 – Saturday

Sky Bet Championship leaders, Bournemouth welcome Huddersfield Town to Vitality Stadium in Saturday’s stand-out tie.

Victory could see Scott Parker’s Cherries extend their lead to eight points with Fulham not in action until Sunday, whereas Huddersfield can go fourth with a win if Coventry and QPR lose elsewhere.

Adam Smith is ruled out for Bournemouth for another fortnight with a knee injury which has sidelined him since this month’s international break.

Robbie Brady (fitness) and Lewis Cook (knee) remain absent.

Huddersfield could welcome Mipo Odubeko (illness) back from illness.

Ryan Schofield (back) won’t be risked until match-fit but Pipa (groin), Jordan Rhodes (back) and Aaron Rowe (toe) remain absent.

Stat Attack

  • Bournemouth are unbeaten in five of six Sky Bet Championship meetings against Huddersfield (W4, D1, L1).
  • Huddersfield are winless in their last eight visits to Bournemouth (D3, L5).
  • Dominic Solanke has scored six goals in Bournemouth’s last five home league matches.
  • Duane Holmes has been yellow carded in three of Huddersfield’s six away matches this season.
  • Bournemouth failed to win any of their three matches refereed by John Brooks last season (D1, L2).

Having scrapped their way to a narrow win over Stoke in midweek with clinical finishing in a tough contest where breaking down defences were key, Bournemouth certainly will need to be on their guard again here because Huddersfield will be another team which they could need to creatively break down.

Huddersfield meanwhile are on a three-match run without conceding and were held at home by Birmingham in midweek but just aren’t as consistent in their goalscoring form, which will be their biggest concern coming into this match where goals are likely given Bournemouth’s form.

Tactics though will be crucial because I can see Huddersfield either going for it here given Bournemouth’s habit of conceding at home or alternatively parking the bus, of which if it’s the latter then they’re going to have to be focused throughout otherwise I can see one result coming.

Prediction: Bournemouth 1-0 Huddersfield

Result: Bournemouth 3-0 Huddersfield
