2021-22 FA Cup: Fifth Round – Peterborough vs Manchester City

Peterborough United welcome Manchester City to Weston Homes Stadium in the opening Fifth Round match of 2021-22 FA Cup.

Victory would see Peterborough reach the Quarter-Finals for the first time since 1964-65 season, whereas Man City are looking to reach the last eight for a fourth consecutive season.

Peterborough have no fresh injury concerns to report after Saturday’s Championship loss to Hull as Mark Beevers could return from a hamstring injury.

Jack Taylor (hamstring) is a doubt and won’t be risked unless he is declared match-fit.

Nathan Thompson, Joel Randall (both muscle) and Dan Butler (ankle) are ruled out.

Man City have no fresh injury concerns to report as Jack Grealish and Gabriel Jesus both look to start after being named amongst the substitutes for Saturday’s Premier League win at Everton.

Zack Steffen (unspecified), Cole Palmer (foot) and Benjamin Mendy (personal) remain absent.

Prediction

Having suffered a heavy defeat to Hull on Saturday in Grant McCann’s first match as their manager, Peterborough need a massive performance to even stand any chance because their attacks and passing movement were lacklustre on top of awful defending.

Man City meanwhile certainly found themselves in a scrap at Everton in which they repeatedly struggled to break down the Toffees, which is something that Peterborough need to replicate defensively but also take their chances clinically.

I however can see just one-way traffic coming irrespective of whatever team Pep Guardiola puts out because City should have enough quality to comfortably defeat Peterborough here, unless they have a spectacular off-day and the Posh are clinical which I can’t see happening.

Prediction: Peterborough 0-4 Manchester City

Result: Peterborough 0-2 Manchester City
