Burnley welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Turf Moor in a huge rearranged Premier League clash.
Victory would see Burnley climb to 18th if Watford lose elsewhere and move to within two points of safety, whereas Tottenham can reclaim seventh with a win.
Team News
James Tarkowski and Ashley Westwood could return for Burnley after illness forced the pair to miss Saturday’s win at Brighton.
Charlie Taylor (ankle), Maxwel Cornet (Achilles) and Wout Weghorst (knee) are also considered doubtful but Johann Berg Gudmundsson (muscle) and Matej Vydra (hernia) are ruled out.
Tottenham will again be without Sergio Reguilon after he tested positive for Coronavirus just hours before Spurs’ win over Manchester City on Saturday.
Japhet Tanganga (hamstring) and Oliver Skipp (groin) remain absent.
Stat Attack
- Burnley have claimed just four points from their last five league meetings against Tottenham (W1, D1, L3).
- Tottenham have won three of their last five visits to Turf Moor (W3, D1, L1).
- There have been no red cards in 14 previous Premier League meetings between Burnley and Spurs.
- Burnley have lost just one of their last seven home league matches (W1, D5, L1), in which three of their five draws finished goalless.
- Tottenham have won two of their last three away league matches by 3-2 results at Leicester and Man City respectively, with Harry Kane netting three goals across those two games
Prediction
Having made steady progress with stronger performances in their last four matches, everything just clicked for Burnley on Saturday because they were absolutely fearless in how they frustrated Brighton clinically, although they were lucky that the Seagulls’ shots were poor at times.
Tottenham meanwhile were absolutely superb in their quick counterattacking at Man City in punishing high defensive lines with clinical goals and excellent movement, even if there were some small defensive errors at times in an otherwise strong display.
Neither team will therefore want to suffer defeat so I am expecting a tough cracker because Burnley will need to take the game to Tottenham, whereas Spurs need to ensure that Saturday wasn’t a blip with a stronger performance as they chase fourth.
I though wouldn’t be surprised if Sean Dyche tactically decides to try and deploy counterattacking tactics and force Spurs onto the dominant attack here, which could suit them given their quality and prove crucial.
Prediction: Burnley 1-2 Tottenham
Result: Burnley 1-0 Tottenham
