2021-22 Premier League: Week 26 – Brighton vs Burnley

Brighton & Hove Albion continue their chase of a top seven finish as Graham Potter’s Seagulls host Burnley at AMEX Stadium.

Victory could see Brighton climb to eighth for at least a few hours, whereas Burnley can go 18th with a win if Norwich and Watford both lose elsewhere.

Lewis Dunk is suspended for Brighton after he was red carded in Tuesday’s defeat at Manchester United.

Alexis Mac Allister (knock) could feature but Enock Mwepu and Jeremy Sarmiento (both hamstring) remain ruled out.

Burnley could be without Wout Weghorst as the Dutch striker struggles to recover from a hip injury suffered in last weekend’s loss to Liverpool.

Charlie Taylor (ankle) and Johan Berg Gudmundsson (illness) are doubts but Matej Vydra (hernia) is still ruled out.

Prediction

Although their midweek trip to Man Utd was always going to be difficult, Brighton did well to take the fight to the Red Devils in the first half but Dunk’s red card proved costly, despite losing by just two goals which is a small positive given how much they were outclassed in quality.

Burnley meanwhile can come to the AMEX with confidence after delivering an excellent attacking performance against Liverpool, in which they were just outclassed from a set piece with Nick Pope particularly proving crucial in goal.

I though do expect Brighton to come out with their usual aggressive attack but if Burnley can defend well and match the Seagulls in attack, I can see both teams gaining a point apiece from what should potentially be a decent entertaining battle in attack.

Prediction: Brighton 1-1 Burnley

Result: Brighton 0-3 Burnley
