Ferrari Unveil F1-75 Car For 2022 F1 Season

Ferrari have unveiled their new F1-75 car which will be driven by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in 2022 F1 season.

The F1-75 car replaces the SF21 car of 2021 season but the decision to name the F1-75 comes as a a combined reference to F1, plus the 75th anniversary of the very first time that Enzo Ferrari had fired up the engine of the 125 S at Maranello in March 1947.

Explaining the decision behind the name, Chairman – John Elkann said: “This year, as we celebrate the 75th anniversary of our first production car leaving the factory, we honour that spirit by naming our 2022 F1 challenger the Ferrari F1-75.”

With a series of new technical regulations coming into effect this season, the biggest change between F1-75 and SF21 cars comes with cooling radiators across the side pods and a slimmer front nose end meeting the front wing which has four plates on each side compared to five in 2021.

Other changes include 18′ tyres and black wheel rim covers,  and a sloped rear wing which has been a common feature on many unveiled F1 cars so far in pre-season.

F1-75 will sport a predominant red livery with black sideboards and rear wing, which is replicated in colour scheme of the overalls with a black block stripped across the shoulder pads and chest.

Speaking about his first glimpse of the car, Leclerc said: “I love it. I really really like it, I think I will love it even more if it’s fast on track but I absolutely love the look.”

The Monegasque driver also is keen to improve further this season and fight for the title as he added: that 2022 will “be a very important season for the team, for ourselves the drivers, and it is a good opportunity too.”

Leclerc therefore feels that expectations “are very, very high for everyone” at Ferrari but insists that they’re making sure that they can “achieve great results during this season.”

“So the expectations are very, very high for everyone but we are making sure that with all the work that we’ve done behind the scenes, that we will achieve great results during this season.”

Sainz meanwhile revealed that he is “more than ready” for the new season after enjoying a “great” 2021 campaign in which he finished fifth overall with just 5.5 points more than Leclerc who finished seventh.

The ex McLaren driver though iterated that he is striving for higher success this season as he said: “Now it’s time to take the team to a different level, take it to another step and us drivers and the team together we want more things and more success in 2022. So let’s go and get it.”

On first sighting of the F1-75, Sainz admitted that the car “looks aggressive,” yet “radical and beautiful too.”

Sainz though issued concerns about the new 18 inch tyres as he added: “The bigger tyres might make that an issue, especially on street circuits.”

He however is confident that the larger-size tyres will mark “a step in the right direction” with “the ability to push a bit more in the races, challenge the cars in front, being able to race more closely.”
