William Alatalo has joined Jenzer Motorsport for the 2022 F3 season as he steps up from Formula Regional European Championship.

Alatalo last season raced in Formula Regional European Champion for Arden but could only finish 11th in the drivers’ standings with one podium finish, which saw him finish second in the second race at Circuit Paul Ricard, France.

Feeling “extremely happy” as he spoke about his decision to step up to F3 with Jenzer, Alatalo said: “This is one step closer to my dream, and I will do everything I can to score good results.

“The championship is going to be really tough. We as team need to do our best to get good results. I believe me and Jenzer can achieve good results along the season. I trust the team, and I will do my best on and off-track. I will do better than before, and that’s a promise I intend to keep.”

Alatalo also acknowledged his steady racing results with a career best of third in 2019 FIA Motorsport Games, as he iterated that he is “ready to drive in FIA F3 championship, and I will show it on the track. The season is going to be a long one, and I am ready to fight until the end.”

The 19 year-old Finnish driver also revealed that he believes that he is “mentally and physically” prepared for the new season.

Team Principal, Andreas Jenzer added: “William is a rookie in FIA F3 this season, and as we know well from experience, this can be hard at times.

“However, with all his experience, dedication and motivation William is bringing with him, good results are what we are aiming for. We will work hard together and look forward to be on track in Bahrain.”

Alatalo is the second driver to be confirmed for Jenzer this season after Ido Cohen was announced as their first signing yesterday (11 February).

Speaking about his switch from Carlin to Jenzer, Cohen said: “I drove with the team in Valencia and it was a really good experience.

“The people there were very professional, so with the team capabilities and the experience I already have in the championship, I am confident I can achieve good results. I am excited and looking forward to drive in Bahrain.”

Jenzer added that everyone within the team “immediately felt” Cohen would be a ideal fit for the team this season following his successful post-season test in November 2021, whilst believing that together they can enjoy “a good cooperation and a successful championship ahead of us together.”
