Hull City continue their fight for Championship survival as Grant McCann’s Tigers host Blackburn Rovers at MKM Stadium.
Victory would see Hull move seven points clear of the relegation zone, whereas Blackburn need at least one point to climb to second.
Team News
Hull have no fresh injury concerns to report as Callum Elder (groin), Andy Cannon, Mallik Wilks (both ankle), Lewis Coyle (ankle), Josh Emmanuel (illness) and Alfie Jones (hamstring) remain absent.
Blackburn will be without Ryan Nyambe after the defender was red carded in Saturday’s victory at Cardiff City.
Deyovaisio Zeefuik and Dilan Markanday could make their debuts after joining Rovers earlier this week.
Harry Pickering (hamstring), Ian Poveda (ankle) and Bradley Dack (knee) remain absent.
Stat Attack
- Hull are winless in their last five meetings against Blackburn without scoring (L5).
- Blackburn have lost just one of their last five visits to Hull (W2, D2, L1).
- Richard Smallwood has been yellow carded in each of Hull’s last three home league matches.
- Jan Paul van Hecke has been yellow carded in three of Rovers’ last five league matches.
- Blackburn’s Ben Brereton has the best goal conversion out of the current top five Championship goalscorers so far this season, having converted 33% of his 61 shots into goals.
Prediction
Having slipped back to their losing ways in recent weeks, Hull were completely outplayed by Stoke City on Sunday with defenders often caught out of position, especially from direct long kicks out of the Potters’ defence which cannot be simply repeated here.
Blackburn meanwhile were clinical at Cardiff on Saturday despite finding themselves outclassed in a nervy encounter, yet their defending even when reduced to ten men proved the difference in continuing their strong form.
This match though should be Blackburn’s to lose if Hull play like they did on Sunday and if I am being honest, I can see just one outcome coming given Hull’s poor form in recent meetings.
Prediction: Hull 0-2 Blackburn
Result: Hull 2-0 Blackburn
