2021-22 Sky Bet Championship: Week 25 – Thursday

Nottingham Forest welcome Huddersfield Town to the City Ground in a crunch final Sky Bet Championship clash of 2021.

Depending on results elsewhere, victory would see Forest climb as high as sixth.

Huddersfield meanwhile will stay sixth with a win but victory by a four goal margin would see the Terriers move up to fifth on goal difference from Middlesbrough.

Nottingham Forest have no fresh injury concerns to report after their Boxing Day defeat at Middlesbrough, as Alex Mighten (knee), Jordi Osei-Tutu (ankle), Max Lowe (groin) and Loic Mbe Soh (thigh) remain absent.

Huddersfield will be without Tom Lees as he follows concussion protocols after suffering a head injury in the Terriers’ comeback Boxing Day win against Blackpool.

Levi Colwill (fitness) could return but Pipa (hip), Alex Vallejo and Jonathan Hogg (both knee) remain ruled out.

Stat Attack

  • Nottingham Forest have won two of their last five league meetings against Huddersfield (W2, L3).
  • Huddersfield have won three of their last five visits to Forest’s City Ground (W3, L2).
  • Forest haven’t done the league double over Huddersfield since 2013-14 season.
  • Forest’s last four home goals have all been scored after half-time.
  • Huddersfield have conceded first in their last two matches within the opening two minutes.

Prediction

Having seen their nine match unbeaten run ended at Boro in a largely toothless display where they often struggled to settle into a rhythm under immense pressing, Forest will be hoping to be able to respond with a more disciplined attacking effort.

Huddersfield meanwhile continue to have defensive issues especially in opening minutes of their last two games, yet their attacking spirit in these type of tricky situations is strong as highlighted by excellent fightbacks to somehow force wins could be crucial come May.

A front-footed start therefore is key for Forest and if they are able to quickly settle into their usual style, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see an attack-minded clash but Huddersfield’s second-half attacking quality will need neutering if this is to finish in a draw.

Prediction: Nottingham Forest 1-1 Huddersfield Town

Result: Nottingham Forest 0-1 Huddersfield Town
